Born 1969 in Albania, emigrated to Italy in the late '90's. He is an artist who does
wonderful works dealing with issues of migration and identity, as well as the
consequences of social, political and cultural changes in everyday life. He often
combines his own personal history with broader social political issues and has an
amazing capacity of creating very poetic and visually powerful images that still have
a strong political impact. Paci works with all different kinds of media, such as video,
photography, painting and installations. The edition for azple.com is a series of stills
from his latest video “Centro di Permanenza Temporanea“ (2007) - a video that
shows a group of people of unknown origin waiting in the middle of nowhere for a
non-existing airplane. Its title refers to the temporary camps for illegal immigrants
(sans papiers) in Italy. Paci’s works are part of important museum collections such
the MoMA New York, the Kunsthaus Zurich and the Centre Georges Pompidou Paris.
